University rankings, which increasingly impact both universities' development strategies and state policy in higher education, was one of the main topics discussed at the meeting of the HSE's International Advisory Committee.

On December 7, at a meeting of the International Advisory Committee, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov discussed the changes underway at the university and explained how the Higher School of Economics is working towards true international competitiveness as part of the 5-100 Project.
The new QS Graduate Employability Rankings reflects the relation between a university’s activities and graduate employment. HSE placed in 201+ group.
On 1 – 3 November an international youth conference Physica.SPb / 2016, organized by the Physics and Technology Institute A.F. Joffe, was held in St. Petersburg. There were about 200 young scientists with poster presentations at the conference.
HSE and Parallels have agreed to cooperate on IT educational programmes. Parallels will start working with students from the HSE’s Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, and a further agreement on cooperation is to be signed with the university’s Computer Sciences Faculty.

Recently the senior researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan) Dr. Shiro Kawabata was visiting MIEM, HSE. The visit took place from 18 September to 5 October.
On October 10, 2016, Altium Limited, a leading software company providing PC-based electronics design software for engineers, announced the start of its partnership with the HSE Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM). MIEM and Altium plan to work together in the education and training of hi-tech specialists.
Dance with a robot, become immersed in virtual reality, mount a weather station, learn about smart home technologies and just have a good time. At Nauka 0+ Science Festival, HSE showed that scientific development can be not only useful, but also accessible to everyone.
On August 31 – September 2, 2016, a conference on ‘The Future of Chemical Physics’, organized by the Journal of Chemical Physics, was held in Oxford, England.
