Roman Aminev, a fourth-year student of the Information Science and Computation Technology programme at HSE MIEM, spent his last academic year in Hungary, where he studied at Óbuda University under the academic mobility programme. In Budapest, he not only joined the educational process but also learned how to face everyday challenges and solve academic issues. He had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, and tell them about his country and HSE University. In the interview, Roman told us how his one-year immersion into an unfamiliar life had changed him.

Every year, the master's programmes at the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM) attract a large number of students from Africa and the Middle East. Each of them follows a unique path towards becoming an engineering professional. Ahead of receiving their degrees, several graduates shared their personal stories about how they chose their profession and what they learned during their time at HSE.

The 10th Demo Day of the Joint HSE & VK Engineering and Mathematics School was held at the VK Moscow office. Students of the three workshops presented the results of 13 projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, information security, and digital platforms. Students worked on the development of recommendation services, systems for psycholinguistic text analysis and speech processing, methods for identifying celebrities in videos, algorithms for determining the toxicity of memes, security mechanisms for AI systems, and approaches to improving the effectiveness of neural network models.
