On Cosmonautics Day, the HSE News Service spoke with the participants of the CubSX-HSE project, which recently launched a satellite into Earth orbit. Students and staff from the HSE Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM) spoke about their project and impressions of their trip to Baikonur.

At the 2021 RusCrypto Competition, HSE PhD student Anastasia Malashina (MIEM) won the student report category by the unanimous decision of the competition committee, which included the directors of the RusCrypto-2021 Association, members of the programme committee, and experts in the field of computer security. Multi-sensors developed at HSE MIEM (HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics) have become part of the NB-IoT network deployed by Russian network provider MTS at the Russian Antarctic station ‘Progress’. The main task of the system is to monitor runway conditions.

The Global Energy Association awards outstanding Russian scholars for their contributions to the development of the national power engineering industry on their professional holiday – national Power Engineers’ Day. Professor Viktor Maslov, a RAS member, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Math), and MIEM Research Professor, has become the first winner of the Honorary Diploma from the Association ‘for his fundamental contributions to upholding nuclear power safety’.

A team competition organised by the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE) will feature two leagues — one for HSE University students and another for secondary school students. The Hackathon partners are ‘MY.GAMES’ an international gaming brand that is part of Mail.ru Group, the educational website ‘GeekBrains’, and the not-for-profit Institute for Digital Transformation of Education (IDTE).

Nikita Pershukov, a 4th-year bachelor’s student studying Information Science and Computation Technology at the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE), has placed among the Russian national team’s expanded membership for the WorldSkills Russia competition in the ‘Network and System Administration’ category. In an interview with the HSE New Service, Nikita talked about the team selection process and what lies ahead for him and his fellow teammates.

The final list represents the choices of HSE students, graduates, as well as the results of the Student Research Paper Competition.

Pavel Samoilenko, a student at MIEM HSE, has been awarded a grant from the Innovation Promotion Foundation in support of his project which aims to develop mobile applications for navigating and visualizing 3D content inside buildings. The grant award totals 500,000 rubles.
