School of Computer Engineering as part of HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics participates in the preparation of bachelors, masters and graduate students for the most popular and priority areas of development of science, technology and engineering in Russia, in particular: "Information Science and Computation Technology" (bachelor's degree), "Computer systems and networks" (Master's degree).

The overall task of the department is to form students' broad technical competencies in hardware and software of computer technology and computer systems, computer-aided design systems, which are necessary today to adapt to the conditions of a rapidly changing innovative economy.
Practical classes in the disciplines of educational programs are held in the educational laboratories of the department:

• Laboratory of network technologies
• Laboratory of Computer-aided Design Systems
• Laboratory of elements and devices of embedded systems
• Laboratory of 3D Imaging and Computer Graphics
• Virtual training laboratory to explore the possibilities of IBM products in the project activities of students
• Laboratory of Internet technologies and services
• Laboratory of network video technologies

Students receive professional competencies by practically performing work cycles on the most modern equipment used in the real sector of the economy in various areas of information technology and services development: the manufacturing sector, banking and the financial sector, public administration, large trading systems.
