About the School

The School of Electronic Engineering was created in 2015. Our research activity focuses on finding most effective engineering solutions in the field of electronics and nanoelectronics, condensed matter physics, information and communication devices and communication systems, intelligent control of technical systems. We implement the following educational programmes:

‘Infocommunication technologies and communication systems’, ‘Information Security’ (BS),

‘Applied Electronics and Photonics, ‘Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems’, ‘Information Security of Cyber-physical Systems’, ‘Cybersecurity’ (MS).

HSE University Presents Smart Orthosis at Hope for Technology Forum
On July 10–11, 2025, Moscow hosted the 10th Hope for Technology National Forum of the Rehabilitation Industry and Universal Design. The event was aimed at discussing innovative achievements in the rehabilitation industry. The MIEM Student Design Bureau and the HSE Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience presented a smart orthosis, which was developed at the request of orthopedists.

‘We Demonstrated That HSE University Can Not Only Build a Satellite, but Maintain Its Operation’

The first HSE University satellite has completed its work in orbit after more than 35,000 hours of trouble-free operation, one billion kilometres travelled (24,600 orbits around the Earth), and hundreds of full-frame shots taken of the Earth's surface across an area of 320,000 km2. The HSE News Service shares the results of the satellite’s mission and the team’s plans for the near future.

HSE MIEM Professor Lev Shchur Receives Prestigious International Award
Professor Lev Shchur has received the Henri Abraham Award 2022 for his services in organising science, including conducting international conferences and supporting early-career scientists. The award was established by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) in 2020, and has since been given to six researchers from various countries.

Second HSE University Satellite Launched from Baikonur
On August 9, a Soyuz 2.1b rocket launched with a payload of HSE University’s second satellite, which will monitor the land surface of the Arctic region. HSE MIEM Deputy Director Andrey Abrameshin spoke about the university’s space plans, while Top Class competition winner Alexey Gilenko shared his impressions of the launch at Baikonur Cosmodrome.

On May 30th, the traditional HSE TechnoShow—the final exhibition of the best works by student teams during the 2021/22 academic year project cycle—took place in the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE). For the first time since the pandemic began, the festival was held offline. Visitors to the show included not only students and professors of HSE University, but also a wide variety of interested people.

240 Million Kilometres: HSE Satellite Spends a Year in Orbit
A year ago, on March 22, 2021, at 9:07 Moscow time, a Soyuz-2.1a rocket with a Fregat upper stage was successfully launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome Site 31. The launch vehicle carried 38 satellites, including the CubeSX-HSE satellite developed through the joint efforts of experts and students from the HSE University Laboratory of Space Vehicles and Systems’ Functional Safety of the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM) and Sputnix, a privately-owned space company.
