The School of Cybersecurity Studies was established in 2026 through the merger of the Department of Cyber-Physical Systems Information Security, the Department of Computer Security, and the Joint Department with InfoWatch. Its establishment was driven by two interrelated factors: the growing importance of data protection amid the digitalisation of the modern economy and the extensive cybersecurity expertise accumulated at HSE MIEM. The creation of the school was a natural response to the growing scope of cybersecurity challenges and opened up new opportunities for the development of HSE MIEM’s educational and research activities related to information protection.
The School of Cybersecurity Studies is headed by Oleg Evsyutin, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, and winner of the Government of the Russian Federation Prize. The school’s team includes teaching and research staff with expertise across a wide range of cybersecurity areas. Their research interests include cryptography, wireless and quantum networks, secure communications systems, artificial intelligence security, computer incident investigation, multimedia data protection, and data protection in the financial and credit sector.
The school offers Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, and Master’s degree programmes in the field of information security. Graduates of the school’s programmes are highly qualified specialists with advanced cybersecurity skills. Most programmes are delivered full‑time, while a number of Master’s degree programmes are available online.
The school actively cooperates with leading cybersecurity companies to keep its curricula aligned with the real-world needs of employers and to provide students with opportunities for practical training.
