1. Ralf Gommers, PhD, co-director Quansight Labs, Austin, TX, USA

«The road ahead for scientific computing with Python»

Аннотация доклада
The open source PyData ecosystem, which provides state-of-the-art tools for scientific computing, data science, and machine learning with Python, has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the early
2000's. In this talk, we will discuss some of the key challenges and opportunities for this ecosystem. These are both technical - from interoperability to adapting to increasingly heterogeneous compute hardware - and social/organizational in nature.

Биография
Ralf has been deeply involved in the SciPy and PyData communities for over a decade. He is a maintainer of NumPy, SciPy and data-apis.org, and has contributed widely throughout the SciPy ecosystem. Ralf is
currently the SciPy Steering Council Chair, and he served on the NumFOCUS Board of Directors from 2012-2018.
Ralf co-directs Quansight Labs, which consists of developers, community managers, designers, and documentation writers who build open-source technology and grow open-source communities around data science and scientific computing projects. Previously Ralf has worked in industrial R&D, on topics as diverse as MRI, lithography and forestry. By training, Ralf is a physicist. He obtained PhD in physics from University College London, working on experimental ultracold gases, and subsequently worked as a postdoc at MIT on degenerate quantum fluids.


2. Petr Skobelev, Doctor of Sciences, Samara Polytechnical University, Russia

«Smart Digital Twins of Plants: models, methods and tools for planning and simulation of plants synchronized with real plant cultivation»

Аннотация доклада
Digital twin (DT) of plants is designed as a smart cyber-physical system for managing the growth of crops in precision farming. DT includes a plant knowledge base, a multi-agent system for planning and simulations, and a mobile application for synchronizing DT with real plant growth. A knowledge base of DT is formed by formalizing expert knowledge of agronomists in the form of ontological specifications of stages of plant growth and harvest estimation. Multi-agent technology is applied for creating stage agents, which can coordinate stage start-end time and durations and yield forecast under real-time events in the environment. The core part of DT is the “tube” model of normal plant growth and the influence of potential changes in parameters of plant development for each stage. The research is focused on wheat production but could be expanded for other sorts of crops, vegetables and fruits, and other applications.

Founder and Chairman of Directors Board of “Knowledge Genesis” Group (Skolkovo), Head of Department of Samara State Technical University, Head of Laboratory of Digital Twins in Samara Federal Center of Russian Academy of Science. Prof. Petr Skobelev is a scientist, entrepreneur, and software engineer specializing in developing Emergent Artificial Intelligence (EAI) formed by models and methods of automatic collective decision making and negotiations of software agents in self-organized systems. Applications of EAI include resource management, clustering, and text understanding, and other complex systems. The key objective is the formation of Industry 5.0 / Society 5.0 which will be based on digitalization of knowledge, digital eco-systems of AI services, smart digital twins of organizations and things, and digital transformation of enterprises to talent-centric networks.

Семинар проводится с целью обмена опытом по применению высокопроизводительных вычислений в науке, инженерии и экономике. Традиционно на семинаре представляется два доклада: один  — сотрудниками НИУ ВШЭ, второй — гостями университета — специалистами в области тематики семинара.
