Семинар "Fighting Covid-19 with Bluetooth Low Energy-based Contact Tracing"
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is a pervasive wireless technology that is available in everyday devices, such as your smartphones, earbuds, smartwatches, etc. The ubiquity of BLE has led to the development of many emerging applications based on proximity sensing and occupancy detection. Being able to automatically detect the proximity between any two humans or detect the number of occupants inside a building is crucial nowadays in view of the current Covid situation. In this talk, we will discuss the role of BLE technology in driving the development of proximity and occupancy detection for contact tracing applications implemented in many countries. We will discuss the centralized and decentralized approaches to contact tracing and highlight the corresponding challenges. Lastly, we will see how we can apply machine learning techniques to improve contact tracing performance while preserving user privacy.

Докладчик: Pai Chet Ng, University of Toronto
Информация о докладчике : Pai Chet (Pc) Ng obtained her Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Computer Electronic from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2020. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto while working as a research associate at the University of Guelph. Her research interests include Proximity-based Sensing and Networking, Physiological Signals with Mobile and Wearable Devices, and IoT Systems with Artificial Intelligence.
