‘Over the Last Two and a Half Years Five Russian Universities Have Joined the World’s Top-100 in Various Subjects’

HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov updated the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the implementation of the Academic Excellence Project 5–100. He also suggested extending the project until 2025 and setting the objective that at least one Russian university be included in every subject-specific ranking by 2025.

University rankings, which increasingly impact both universities' development strategies and state policy in higher education, was one of the main topics discussed at the meeting of the HSE's International Advisory Committee.

From December 1 to 20, registration will be held for HSE’s Open Optional Courses, slated to start in the second half of the 2016/2017 academic year. Per tradition, these courses will be free of charge and open not only to HSE students, but also anybody interested in expanding their knowledge.

According to the Times Higher Education (THE) world university ranking, Higher School of Economics (HSE) entered its 401-500 range out of 980 institutions of higher learning throughout the world in 2016. In particular, HSE ranked No. 4 among the Russian universities on THE. 

HSE Improves its Standing in QS Under 50 Ranking

Higher School of Economics (HSE) has improved its position in the QS ranking for universities that have been in operation for less than 50 years (Under 50). HSE now stands in the 51-60 range, moving up from the 81-90 group.

HSE Improves its Position by 90 Points on QS Ranking

Higher School of Economics (HSE) moved from the 501-550 to the 411-420 group on the QS World University Ranking for 2016/17.

HSE Improves its Position in QS BRICS Ranking Top-100

Only three of the Top-10 Russian universities, HSE, Tomsk State University, and MEPhI, managed to improve their positions compared with last year. HSE moved up from 63rd to 62nd place in the ranking.

HSE Enters Top 50 in QS Emerging Europe & Central Asia 2016 Ranking

HSE increased its overall score this year from 73.9 in 2015 to 74.9, allowing it to take 35th place in the ranking.
